Ancient, World Heritage Bagan
Bagan is an ancient city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bagan located in Mandalay Region. From the 9th to 13th centuries, the city was the capital of the Bagan Kingdom, the first kingdom that unified the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar.
Bagan, formerly known as 'Pagan' was the capital of the present day Myanmar in 9th to 13th centuries. Of the 10000 Buddhist temples, pagodas, monasteries that were constructed in the Bagan Plains in the 11th to 13th century, 2000 still remain.
